When in the Air Force academy can i still do a non tech career?

We Answered:

Just over half of each Air Force Academy class goes on to flight school. Around 40% of each class is not pilot qualified. Intelligence was the most popular choice for Air Force Academy Class of 2014 commissioned 2nd Lieutenants who did not choose to continue on to flight school.

The selection process is nearly identical at the Air Force Academy, West Point, and the Naval Academy, so whatever is stated on one service academy website or in its catalog with regard to admissions generally holds for the others. Suggest considering the outstanding advice offered on the Air force Academy website to students prepping for a service academy, rotc scholarship or any highly selective university. Open all links to the left of the dialog box:

If you carefully read the following answer and open the links it should help to explain the selection process and the path to an appointment:

Any questions about the above, let me know.
Good Luck!

Willie Said:

what classes should i take as a sophmore to help my ultra sound tech career.?

We Answered:

I'll be going into Ultrasound as well, and since I already got my BA in humanities rather than science, I have to go back to school just to go back to school (!). Anyway, the school I'll be going to requires college level English, Algebra, Physics and A&P.

You may have to take Calculus or Pre-calculus in order to take Physics and A&P usually requires Bio and/or Chem and Algebra as pre-requisites.

Violet Said:

Can you get accepted into a university if I grauate HS with career tech?

We Answered:

So long as you've done the required academic coursework as well as your tech classes, you can go to a voc tech high school, or be on the career tech path in a regular high school, and still go to college/university. But make sure you take all the college prep classes that universities require of high school students. This usually includes at least:
- Two years foreign language
- Four years English
- Two years history, at least one of which is usually US
- Three, or more commonly four years math
- Two or three years science
- One year arts
- Two or three years of social studies

So long as you're taking these college prep classes while you're studying other things, you can enter a university. If you don't fulfil these pre-reqs, some universities - especially the decent unis - won't admit you.
