Career And Technology

Philip Said:

I want a career that involves technology. So what should i major in at a university?

We Answered:

It really depends on each university and how they structure the curriculum. When I went to university - you're talking about a degree in computer science. We learned basic hardware, programming, and they had a course in Artificial Intelligence. Universities can offer optional courses as well as required - which gives you a chance to explore other areas. So I would check your local university and see what courses make up their degrees.

Jerry Said:

What major should I take for a career in Mobile Technology?

We Answered:

It's not clear in what aspect of "Mobile Technology" you want to work, but a good general degree might be Electronics Engineering Technology.
If you want to specialize in Software, then an excellent degree is Software Engineering Technology.

Ellen Said:

What kind of film or technology career could I persue?

We Answered:

Entertainment industry careers are extremely difficult to pursue. For every person who finds a job there are hundreds to thousands that don't. I have very talented friends that have tried and now have jobs in other fields.

I would suggest you think about your interest in acting as a hobby and not a career. There are lots of great opportunities in community theater production companies and, who knows, perhaps you could use that hobby as a springboard to a full time career.

In the interim, plan to have a solid daytime job that allows you to support yourself so you can pursue your passion as a hobby until it becomes something more than a hobby.

Karen Said:

Best computer technology career that can guarantee job placement after graduation?

We Answered:

There are no guarantees. All computer/IT fields have lowered hiring expectations and you will be competing with folks who have experience and been laid off. Pick what you like to do.
