this is a difficuilt question. it is difficuilt to pinpoint all the defects in the Indian educational system. there are two main defects. first of all, it is not concept based. second, it is too exam-oriented and narrow. practical experiments are not emphasised in physics and chemistry. textbooks are also badly-written in most state boards and the language is horrible. the education boards try to concentrate too much material in a small textbook, which confuses students a good deal, especially students in intermediate. the MAIN defect is that EVERY student wants to be a topper at any cost and thinks it is disgraceful not to do well in studies because they are pressurised by their parents and the whole society. everyone wants to become a doctor, engineer or a pilot which is impossible. this is harmful to the whole nation and distorts the academic scene. students should not be pressurised to do well. rather, it should be left to their own choice to select a career.

Whatever may be the defects in engineering education in India, it is still the best in the world, mainly because, in addition to imparting knowledge on the subject, it makes you capable of acquiring, assimilating and absorbing new information. This is from my personal experience.

With uniforms and no quality education or quality education to the affordable rich alone will be leading India to dark age. All must think of this first.So how should a student come to school or what should a student's parents be or how should a class room be designed etc are less important compared to the quality of education given to all students of India. When someone thinks of uniformity at all India level,there are lots of unanswered and unaddressed questions. Will the educators think deeply on them and do the really needed?
