For cosmetology school (or any trade/certificate program), please forgo those private $$ for-profit beauty/tech schools and instead consider the much more affordable county vo-tech school (or community college) as long as the program is accredited within the industry.

It might take the cosmetology graduate a couple of years to 'get a book' of regular customers at a salon before possibly making decent money. That's one reason why looking into the county vo-tech school(s) is a good idea since the graduate may be struggling to make money while needing to pay back so much money in school loans.

One should have either a high school diploma or GED (general equivalency diploma) before entering a trade/cosmetology school.
