Their are a number of highly qualified Culinary Schools here on the West Coast. certainly up in Northern California such as The Napa Valley or Sonoma region. Look in your local director listing, either on-line or in the good old yellow pages and see for yourself something in your area. Just a few suggestions. Good Luck!

Your best bet would be to find out if the community college nears you offers a nursing program. You may have to take some pre-req's.

Also, a lot of people go to the lpn-rn route. You gain experience (and earn an income) while you finish up the extra year of school for your rn. It's good for your portfolio to work up the ladder.

I know a lot of nursing schools prefer you to be a cna (not lpn) before applying but I don't think it's required (with the nursing shortage and all).
