Vo Tech Schools
Adrian Said:
Is a vo-tech high school better than a public high school? We Answered:
Personally speaking, any job skill you can get at a young age is better. I would go to Vo-tech High school and learn a trade ( or two).
The difference between Public and Vo-tech is that public is geared more towards students who WANT to go to college, but many of them end up dropping out of college or high school without any real job skills. Vo-Tech school puts emphasis on job skills and working right after High School. many Vo-techs allow students to work WHILE in high school. You can make money AND learn.
Once you finish Vo-tech school, you can still go to college. Things may be alittle different, but you will still have the skills you need to be successful.
Pick, Vo-tech!!

I have a 13 yr old daughter and next year she starts high school she wants to go to a vo-tech her dad says no?We Answered:
I think you are getting side-tracked in your argument with your husband. You are argueing about the merits of vocational school, and the type of people who attend them. Your opinions differ. More importantly is the other subject of whether or not this would be good for your daughter at 13 years of age.I have 3 kids who are now in their 20's. I think that a lot happens between the age of 13 and 18. Your daughter may change her mind many, many times regarding what she thinks she wants to do with her life. I believe a smart parent will continue to strive to have many options open for her when the time comes to make those decisions regarding a votech school, or a regular college.
I think you will get along with your husband better, and do your daughter a favor by continueing along in regular highschool, and college prep classes. When she is 17, and a junior in highschool she can apply to where she would like to go.
13 is very young to be having this discussion and decisions. I believe kids should leave home and live in college housing and experience life a little bit under the umbrella of their parents care. A young person can move out and go to votech schools too. It's part of the process of being a mature, responsible adult. It has been proven that in a general sense people with higher education make more money. That statement is a generality. Most parents want their kids to get the most education they can.
Regarding your question: ways to prove to him, it is not for stupid people: I assume that there is an entrance requirement and a certain minimum GPA. Find out the stats and tell him. I personally think people go to votech because they don't really like school all that much. They want a quick turnaround time, and want/or need to get a job in order to make some money, and also they know exactly what they want to do.

HelpI go to a vo-tech school and I need to know if what I am talking will make me stand out. I have 2 options. We Answered:
vocational tech training trains you in the vocation of the field...Schools - like high school and college train you in THEORIES and PRINCIPLES that run the field.
For example: I was a nuclear engineer in the US Navy. I learned how to run a nuclear reactor and was out working on them in my field. I was getting vocational or operational training.
However - a college student would be learning the theories to design and build the reactor I was operating. I was trained to operate in the Navy - a college student is trained to design.
It all depends on what you want to do.
Now - if you're planning on moving UP - I.E. go to college later on - my reccomendation would be do the following:
Choose a college you COULD want to go to. Talk to them about what they would be the most impressed with and where it would put you on the path to a degree.
SECOND
Go talk to someone who works in the field that you're looking at going into and find out what options what you're doing would give you and whether or not regular HS and college would be better than vocational training.
ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS pound the pavement (go out and meet people). It takes work but it gives you an overview that you won't get just going to class.
Ultimately though: If you want to move UP - you're going to need education - and while literature doesn't sound exciting, there's a lot of lessons that are VERY BADLY needed in EVERY industry that come from learning literature when it comes to leadership. So - go find out how what applies and if you want - hit me up with an email and we can talk!
Good luck!
