Vocational Education Act

Charlie Said:

Do opposers of the Dream Act know what the dream act is all about (details)?

We Answered:

i think alot of people on here are too busy listening to FAIR and other groups to know what the DREAM act is actually about. or they don't even bother to find out and just deem it "amnesty" when it really isn't. i bet the people against it who answered your question didn't even read the information.

regardless education is always good, and these kids should not be punished for a mistake their parents made. alot do not even find out that they are illegal until they are making the decision about college. they have grown up here, the american people has made an investment in there education, so lets give them a chance to give back to the society they have grown up in.

Dan Said:

Why do Anti-immigration activist keep saying that the dream act is free schooling?

We Answered:

because they never bothered to read the damn thing, just repeat what some idiot said

read the damn act morons

Shannon Said:

Why does my friend want me to go to Vocational school with her..?

We Answered:

Your friend probably just wants someone to go to Vantage with her so she'll have someone there that she knows. A lot of my friends have talked to me about moving in with them, and I've told them no. My boyfriend even wanted me to move to Texas with him when he went to the Air Force, and I turned him down.

At the end of the day, you can't base your life around other people and what they want because they won't be paying your bills and making money for you. If you really want to go to college, and do something that interests you, she has to accept that.

Try talking to her and telling her that if she were a true friend, she should be happy for you no matter what decisions you have chosen to make.

Shawn Said:

I am not Interested in College Education?

We Answered:

There are a lot of kinds of education, of course - and it sounds like you're not opposed to education per se; you just want to be putting your energy into learning skills that mean something to you. That makes perfect sense, whether those skills can be gained at a university or a trade school.

The first thing to do is to determine what you want to do for a career. You're curious about music, acting... where can you get the skills you need to do those things? Are you already a skilled musician or actor or do you want to enhance your skills with professional classes? Is there a symphony nearby you could audition for, or a talent agent if you want to act? How can you make a living, at least part time, doing the things you enjoy? Could taking courses at a community college help you hone your focus, if you're not sure where your preference lies?

Once you know what you really want to aim for, make yourself a road map of how to get there. That may require taking classes you're not that interested in - such as the way a film degree requires "core" college classes in history, math, etc. as part of the overall program. If you feel like what you're doing will get you to a key goal, it makes it easier to get through it. It may require building skills in community theater and auditioning, and then becoming a really good waiter or retail person on the side so that you can pay the bills.

Talk about it with your parents. An education of some kind is essential these days - but this may not be the best time for you to pursue that, at least until you know for sure where you want to aim your efforts. Maybe you just need to take a semester off and determine how best to go about accomplishing whatever goals you set - there's no sense wasting time in classes you hate right now. Give it serious thought, and then when you have a goal to work toward, anything you do to achieve it - educationally or otherwise - will feel like a positive step, which will be very motivating.

Good luck!
