Education Needed To Become an Orthdontist?

We Answered:

First of all, English.
Learn to spell the profession you want to be in: orthodontist.
High school courses - science, science, science. Bio, Chem, Physics.
Art classes - you have to be good with your hands. Learn to sculpt. Be planning for your college years. They will be intense. If you think you want to college to learn to party, pick another profession.

Once you get to college - you will take more science based courses. Continue to take art classes that give you perception, observation and hands on skills.

You will want to major in Bio. and pre-med. You will apply to dental school where you will actually do dental type courses, including working on each other and then patients. After general dentistry you will be able to specialize - orthodontics.
IT's a long haul and very expensive. But if you really are serious about this, you can do it. Look for scholarships, be the best in your classes.

As for your career - depends if you go into private practice or a practice with other dentists. You could also go into the military and be a dentist there with the officer rank of Captain to start. Good pay, good pension. And you get to travel.

Worth thinking about...

Should prisoners have a chance to take college courses behind bars?

We Answered:

"The general consensus is that prisoners with college level education are much less likely to return to prison than prisoners without college level education."

This was extensively investigated in the 1970s and 1980s because of the "mixed" record of 1960s reforms. The conclusion reached was that almost so program run in prisons made significant difference in recidivism. So, the programs were shut down, and prisons turned into warehouses for criminals. The only crime policy that "worked" was getting and keeping criminals off the streets until they were past the age of crime.

Sad and cynical, but that's the ugly truth.

Train Driver.?

We Answered:

You will find it difficult to be a train driver in the uk at 20, many of the companies will require you to be 21 to drive a train. Also depending on where you live you will have to be within 20 - 30 mins travel maximum from any depot that have drivers, so again you would have to enquire to the local TOC to you area.
I would suggest that you look for training on the railway as a Conductor, Guard, Platform Staff to tide you over until you re old enough as they will give you some understanding in the Rules and Regulations of the Railway. Conductor / Gaurds only have a few more rules to learn to becoming a Driver, Platform Staff have a little way more but learn the basics like PTS (Personal Track Safety) and Basic Safety Critical training.
Plus also you will recieve the internal job applicational forms and have a better chance to see where the Driver vacancies are and prove to the TOC concerned that you are dedicated enough to become a Railway Employee.
Good Luck
