The M-1 visa is for vocational and non-academic studies, so you can't come to the US on an M-1 visa to take English classes as language courses count as something academic. After you've finished your schooling you can only have up to six months of "practical training" for a job, but in order to be allowed you have to apply for it specially. If you want to study English, you'll need to get an F-1 visa.
I'm not sure if you would be allowed to apply for a work visa while in the US on an M-1 visa.

What you need for an M-1 visa dependents on the requirements of the consulate in your area. But you will need to first apply to a vocational school and have them send proof of acceptance.

I started out when I was in school as a computer technician. I'd say you need to have a lot of patience for that job, especially for people that blame the computer rather than their not knowing how to properly operate that computer and dealing with the same issues day in and day out.

I would say its a good starting out point though if you're naturally curious about computers. There are a lot of places you can go once you have a basic understanding but the key is to continually learn beyond what you have to do. I guess thats true in any field.

I got into programming after fixing computers then into software design then into technical architecture work. One stepping stone leads to another but there are many paths. Persistence and determination and the limit to where you can go is only limited by you.
