Department Of Rehabilitation Services

Carolyn Said:

Department Of Rehabilitation services (DORS) question? Who can the clients hire?

We Answered:

Yes, you can be hired for those 16 hours per week. Your mother is supposed to be in control of who provides her her care. If DORS does not allow it -look for another provider as Medicaid and Meicare both allow it.

Is he Disabled help with this please?

We Answered:

Where do you live? If he is still in California, he should qualify as a client of the Regional Center system. He could be provided with a "job coach" to help with work related issues, and advocating for himself at work. The coach could help him talk to his employer about accomidations he might need. http://www.dds.ca.gov/rc/rclist.cfm
I imagine he would also qualify for Medi-cal. http://www.dds.ca.gov/Wellness/docs/medi…
His regional center case worker could help him with that process if he isn't already taken care of.

If he's not making that much money, he might even qualify for SSI if he's not already receiving it. http://usgovinfo.about.com/gi/dynamic/of…

How do you feel about this Former Kansas welfare worker says illegal immigrants abused the system?

We Answered:

There was a news report on CBS a couple of years ago about a woman (Hispanic) who was arrested for fraud.
She received assistance using 3 of her names and her 2 elementary school age children.
I never heard what happened after that.
