Vocational Rehabilitation is meant to train the disabled so they can obtain a job upon finishing their training. However, as someone who did go through vocational rehabilitation through the Communist-Wealth of Virginia back in 1990, your fiance should very leary on what they try to stick him with. The reason being was when I did go through the program, they tried to force everyone (myself included) into taking demeaning "classes", such as learning the correct way to be a perfect janitor and housekeeping. I finally had to tell them what they could do to themselves before they finally got the hint that I was not about to take a job scrubbing toilets for a living. So with some hesitation on their part, they enrolled me Electronics Classes instead. However, I ultimately told them where they can go. The reason being is because I went back to college anyway despite their objections.

Be leary, be very leary and don't just jump without first learning about the staff that this department has employed. I learned the hard way.

Usually voc rehab won't pay for that sort of thing as it is too expensive. It is also longer-term than they usually consider, and there is a low expectation of employment. There are lots of other voc training available--I would check into other avenues that are two years or less, and available at public institutions.

By now you have either called them as you should have done in the first place with this question or if not, please give us MORE info because what you asking can be answered several ways with respects to CHAP 31.
