Engineering Trade Schools

Clinton Said:

How many years does it take to get your associates degree in mechanical engineering within a trade school?

We Answered:

Associate degrees are usually two years of schooling and tend to be offered at the community college level. An associate's in engineering may qualify the person for an engineering technician job though I'm not sure how much of a need there is for them.

A trade school usually offers a certificate that may take about a year to complete. Please do forgo those private $$ tech schools and opt for the more affordable county vo-tech school.

For general career info: http://www.bls.gov/oco and can search 'engineering technicians' or such.

US colleges: http://www.utexas.edu/world/univ Please make sure that the program is accredited within the industry.

Roland Said:

Computer and Electronics Engineering Technology degree at comunity college (cpcc) or trade school (itt tech)?

We Answered:

Both programs are very similar, but the CC program may be less expensive.

Micheal Said:

what trade or votech school have mechanical engineering?

We Answered:

I doubt any do. Mechanical engineering is a four year degree.

Roberta Said:

computer engineering degree from devry or itt tech or a trade school?

We Answered:

No. C.E. degrees from a real engineering college are quite different than from a trade school like devry or itt tech. In classical engineering programs it is very math and science intensive (at least trig, calculus w/analytic geometry I and II and differential equations I and II along with general chem and general physics I and II)...i doubt devry or itt even scratch the surface of those subjects. Obvioulsy the engineering courses are going to be much more vigorous and demanding at a real engineering college too.

Daisy Said:

Where can I learn engineering in or near Santa Rosa, California?

We Answered:

Sonoma State University is in Rohnert Park, which is close to Santa Rosa. They offer a BS in Engineering Science with a specialization in Electronics and Communications.

UC Davis is probably the nearest school with a really big College of Engineering. They offer degrees in Applied Science, Biological and Agricultural Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Materials Science, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering.

Generally, a trade school offers vocational programs that don't earn a degree--or at most, end with an associate degree. To qualify as an engineer, you need a bachelor's degree at a minimum.

Dolores Said:

Should i go to law, med,or engineering school?

We Answered:

In the USA, law school and medical school are graduate programs, but you can start engineering right after high school Biomedical engineering would be an excellent pre-med major, or a good career if you decide not to go to medical school. Biomedical engineering would also be very good if you want to go into patent law.

I suggest you start in biomedical engineering, take pre-med courses and find out more about medicine and law as careers. After a few years you will have more of an idea which is right for you.
