Licensed Vocational Nurse School

Byron Said:

Licensed vocational nurse?

We Answered:

At the community college I go to (but for another major), the LVN/LPN program is 1-year. But you need points to get into the program. You earn the most points by being and working as CNA, you can also earn points by taking certain classes and any other health care certifications you hold. Then there is a waiting list to get into the program. You are probably looking at a minimum of 2 or 3 years to finish.

Every school is different though. Call them to find out.

Patrick Said:

Confused about REGISTERED NURSE(RN) or LICENSED VOCATIONAL NURSE(LVN)?

We Answered:

RN's have more schooling and make more money. They have more career options also. Most LVN's that I know are mostly medication passers. You can start out as an LVN, go to work while you take classes to get your RN. RN's are in more demand. There are many areas that have phased out LVNs.

Clarence Said:

I have to college degrees( never used the degrees). I am working in a hospital as a licensed practical nurse.?

We Answered:

There's nothing wrong with being an CNA or LVN. A lot of people get a degree, then find another passion in their life. if you enjoy being a nurse than that should be good enough. If you really wanted you could go back and get a degree in nursing to be an RN. Since you have completed your generals already it shouldn't take you as long. Degree or no degree what matters the most is that you have a job you love and are fulfilled with. My daughter has a degree but works as a CNA doing home health and hospice care. She loves it.

Can you transfer to a university from a career school?

We Answered:

No you can't unfortunately. Lets say you get your lvn from a career school...Well if you decided to go to a University you will have to start all over as if you were new to school... Just like you can't get your Bachelors in Nursing (rn) and then decide to get your masters at a University.. You can however continue to go to your career school and get more education. A lot of them will have higher programs and ALL of them will answer these types of question when you go in for a consult.
