Ana Said:

Should i get a degree in the medical field from a "Vocational school"?

We Answered:

A vocational school (sometimes referred to as a trade school or career school) is a perfect avenue to pursue if you know exactly what it is that you want to do. The programs at vocational schools will cut straight to the chase and will have you learning the specific skills you need become successful in whatever career you are pursing. A vocational school will also properly prepare you for any additional exams you need to take to earn certification and licensure once your complete the program. They're also faster to complete, so you can expect to go into the workforce at a faster rate. The downside of "cutting straight to the chase" however, is that if you want to be able to take electives or courses that are outside of your specific department this might be impossible to do since vocational schools are really restrictive regarding course work. Additionally, your general education courses such as math, English and history will be shortened (or removed entirely) if it does not directly pertain to your area of study—this limits the possibility of "learning" in a broad sense. So if you want to venture out and learn something outside of your field, it will be very unlikely to do so at a vocational school. In addition vocational schools tend to be more costly than a community college since most are for-profit.

But that's not to say that a vocational school isn't the way to go, especially with those who aspire to work in the health care industry. You can even earn a degree online if you wanted to. $14,000 for dental assistant program in medical school?

We Answered:

$14,000!! SERIOUSLY!

I'm in school for Dental Assisting at a Tech school and the full price is a little bit over $2,000. Sorry, wouldn't pay that much. You could probably even attend a community college for Dental Hgy. and get it for cheaper.
