Carl Said:
What should special needs students who are not intelligent enough to go to college do after they graduate? We Answered:
Students who are special needs and identified as such in school should have had transitional planning starting at age 16 to address such issues. Like many typical children, they can start a job track, vo-tech, or continue in public education until 21.It really depends on the child, the disability and the family. A local developmental disabilities council (every state has one) would be able to help address the issue for parents who are concerned with future planning. Not only education and job, but the caregivers need to look at legal guardianship as well.
