Vocational School Degree

Tim Said:

Can you get a bachlors degree at a vocational school with no requirements?

We Answered:

These colleges are not going to be regionally accredited which means no job and no certification.

Cody Said:

does a 2 year vocational school count as an associate degree?

We Answered:

It can. I just got an associates degree in nursing in a two year program.

Karl Said:

Can you get just as good of a degree at a vocational school like regular college?

We Answered:

The degree is only worth the value you put into it. Both degrees are a piece of paper, it just matters what you want to do with your life. I was facing the same problem with becoming a pharmacy technician. There are many opportunities, however I chose the vocational or career path and went to Milwaukee Career College http://www.mkecc.edu/content/pharmacy-te… and I couldn't be any happier. I make a good living and I did not have to take those stupid gen eds that suck all your money and time. They focus on what is most important for your job and that is it. I loved it, hopefully that helped some. Best of luck on your decision.

Dwayne Said:

Can you transfer an associate's degree from a vocational school to an acreditted University?

We Answered:

Doing your associates in Med Assitance, is not a good way to try to get into med school. You will focus mostly on doing paper work, etc. Med school is all about the MCAT, and the MCAT is all about basic biology, chemistry, physics.

A college may accept some credits from some vocation schools, depending on whether or not they are accredited, but to be honest neither a four year university nor a med school could care if you can file paperwork, maintain records etc. Thus a lot of your credits likely will not transfer. you would have to evaluate the vocational school in mind, contact some of the 4 years you are considering, and ask.

You are definitely better off going to a community college and taking classes in biology, chemistry, etc. Make sure you study hard if you go the CC route because you need to learn those fundamentals for the MCAT.

Also consider careers as a Physician Assistant, Pharmacist, and Optometrist. A lot of people try to get into Med School, and many do not. All of those careers are well paying (80,000+++) and respected, and a good back up plan for anyone who doesn't get into Med School.

Glenn Said:

i want to teach child care at the high school level. so do i need a vocational degree or a teaching degree?

We Answered:

In California, you must have a Bachelor's and a credential to teach high school.

Unless you are teaching a vocational class, which child care might be.

Each state and district are different, so you will have to see.

With budgets being what they are, I do not know of any schools near me who even teach child care in high school- we are focused on core classes and basics. Early childhood education is reserved for college.
