Vocational School Of Nursing

Annette Said:

My husband was laid off and now interested in nursing. With high school diploma, where can he start?

We Answered:

I would suggest that he attend community college or vocational school first and maybe start as an LPN/LVN. That program is only for a year. It gives you fundamentals as far as in the nursing field. Some can give meds and start IV's. That maybe the safest route to go. Then after that, he can bridge into RN program which will take about a year or 18 months depending on how he goes to school.

Sometimes you know what you want to go to school for, but once he gets into clinicals, he will figure it out. Mine is Labor and Delivery or Critical care. Im leaning more towards L&D but I know if I start in Critical care/ICU or med/surg that my experience can take me anywhere.

I actually wish that I started this way because now it makes more sense to me. I started out in a straight nursing program and im getting burnt out but hey, have to PUSH( Pray Until Something Happens) and keep pushing.
