Well, the first thing I can tell you is that a 16 year old living with their parents is not pathetic.

I'm a strong believer in the idea that people shouldn't have to live up to the standards of normality. When you look at the people that are defined as "normal" it's really a big joke. The supposedly normal teenagers are the ones who seem to be the least expressive and highly repressed people of our youth.
Of course, it's understandable to want to have achieved something, especially when you're coming closer to adulthood. But, it's not necessary. The best achievement that a teenager can achieve is to be comfortable with their lives and themselves. It's certainly not easy to achieve, but I think it's one of the best things you can do.
As for your specific situation, it seems that life didn't go as planned. I'm sorry for that. But you're doing all the things that a person should do in your situation. You're on the right track, my friend. As for your uncertainty of the future and dating, many teenagers have the same problem. I'm even in an arts high school studying musical theatre and I sometimes am so lost when thinking of my future. And dating, from my experience, has only brought me annoyance, unnecessary tears, and experience to look back on. It's helpful experience, but it's not necessary for a younger person to have. If you don't start dating till later, it's fine. Somebody will show up when the time's right.
