Was the IEP actually done by your school district?

if not they are to implement the provided IEP and may re eval within 90 days instead of waiting 2 years.

i beleive it is illegal for them to not even have an IEP..it is both schools faults....the receiving school should contact the sending school when an IEP is missing.

i have worked with many children--the reval time was always 3 years...

are you referring to IDEA chapter 14..or does your state have the additional requirement?

if that is IDEA, my state has been doing things wrong (although i have mostly worked with kids classified as multiple disability, not just MR)


you have to keep working your way up the line--file complaints all the way up to OSEP

I would check out the apprenticeship route first and then if you find it is not available then check out the culinary school. I am a former chef from Canada and worked with several chefs from the US, some who attended the CIA in Hyde Park NY, but there are other schools both private, smaller even community colleges are not a bad place to look at.

I would also start looking at getting info from these places now and set up appointment to see the campuses, but still look at the apprenticeship idea, I hear it is becoming more popular in the US now, here in Canada and Europe it has been around for many years, I did mine in 2 1/2 years as I had Grade 13 nd 1 year of university up here, that exempted me 1/3.
