Vocational Tech School

Henry Said:

how is it like in a vocational school?

We Answered:

The main difference is that the students are more focused and motivated. No fraternities, probably no dances.

The admissions office at your school will give you fairly accurate information on job prospects. They may have a placement bureau, You may be eligible for co-op placement.

The best place to work is the one where you will feel comfortable, where they will supply you with the tools and supplies to do your work.

How long to you have to go to school to be a vet tech?

We Answered:

Techs go to school for 2 years. They attend special programs at a community college. There is a little math, but nothing above an algebra level. Basicically, you'll learn to calculate dosages.
Techs are going to be more hands on with the animals. Normally, the vet will tell you what they want, and then you do it. You'll monitor, feed, walk and take care of the animals while they're in the hospital as well as assisting the doctors with clients and patients as needed. A doctor will be more concerned with dealing with clients, performing surgeries and relying on you to monitor their patients. Basically you're like a nurse. Your salary as a tech will be significantly less than a vet. Despite what you may have heard a vet's average salary is about $100,000/year whereas a tech is about 40,000/year. Of course vets will have a considerable more amount of debt than a tech.

It depends on the college to which you want to transfer the credit. You can check on Google for the schools you want to go to.

Vocational school instead of high school?

We Answered:

The local county vo-tech school may have training for hotel/restaurant/hospitality management that are still in high school. It may be a good beginning for the field, however, one may need a degree from a college or university to advance to a more supervisory position.

Please steer clear of those online, for-profit schools such as penn foster, stratford career, US career, capella, university of phoenix, kaplan, devry, keiser, ITT tech, sanford brown, strayer, walden, everest and others as they are merely out to 'make a profit': http://www.capellauniversitysucks.us

http://www.ripoffreport.com and can type into search.

US colleges: http://www.utexas.edu/world/univ

General career info: http://www.bls.gov/oco and can search 'lodging managers' or such.

What should I know before entering high school as a freshman?

We Answered:

All you need to know as a freshman is DON'T TAKE ANYTHING PERSONAL!!!!
You should make friends with the people who you think are REAL friends....not just the ones that may be "cool".....
Your real friends will be there for you until the end of time... if you're just trying to be cool, you'll end up alone in the long run...
Highschool is only a phase... one little part of your life... make the most of it, but DON'T let it be the navigator for the rest of your journey!
