Vocational Technical College

Kristen Said:

I need help with my college planning profile...?

We Answered:

state college is like public school..its cheaper for in state residents and in some states offers good programs. private college is just that. its a private institution whos admission standards are typically higher and requires more money for tuition. the former two are often for higher degrees and specialized fields. community college are usually attended by students local to the are and are cheap, commonly used for undecided majors or core class credit. and tech are for mechanical fields with many different courses with( typically) hands on requirements (mechanic, electrition, contractor, etc.) same goes for vo tech but vo tech has more an array of vocations.

Does a diploma rank higher or lower to a certificate?

We Answered:

A certificate of completion from a high school/community college ranks lower than a diploma. A certificate is equal to a diploma when its from a technical or vocational school and they only offer certificates. A certificate indicates that you have successfully completed specific training (machine technology). A diploma indicates that you completed both specific training and additional program requirements.

Is LOMA LINDA in CALIFORNIA a private university?

We Answered:

Yes, it's a private college, there are general education courses (but not all, students take some classes at other colleges if necessary). It is not a technical/vocational college like Devry, even though Loma Linda focuses on healthcare/science. It's a 7th Day Adventist college, but you don't have to be.
