Technical And Vocational Education

Roberta Said:

How will a vocational/technical education contribute to the improvement of yourself and your community?

We Answered:

A community is made up of all sectors: and a technically qualified person performs valuable tech services like electrical installations and repair; plumbing ditto; farm technology and agricultural advice, and environmental protection; example; I have land bordering the US's first National River; I can't find any plumbers locally who know how to install an environmentally friendly septic system in order to protect the River... after all, we all can't be history or political researchers.. someone has to help people with real-world work; once we are experienced, then we become the boss; a small business owner, backbone of the local community, and also the majority type of businesses in the USA... ergo, our pride can be fulfilled just as much as in the liberal arts areas... by producing, and helping repair and build the infrastructure necessary to modern life.

Annie Said:

Definition of vocational and technical education?

We Answered:

Vocational education, also called technical education, teaches skills which are directly related to a specific job or profession, as opposed to academic education which looks at a subject in a more abstract way.

Marvin Said:

Why is it important to introduce technical and vocational education in secondary education?

We Answered:

My feeling, as a retired teacher, is that these programs are important because not every child is an academic achiever and so many times they are made to feel less than those who get the good grades. But imagine how much self-esteem they gain when they enter a program where they excel! They find out just how skilled they are in other areas. And it's true that the world needs the carpenter, the plumber, the mechanic, etc. just as much as it needs the lawyer, doctor, and teacher.
Technical and vocational education can open so many doors for kids who would otherwise be made to feel less than adequate in their struggle to achieve good grades. And those who can't succeed well sometimes give up and get involved in less savory occupations. Finding out you possess skills and strengths in other areas builds your self-confidence and motivates you to succeed.
