Technical High Schools
Marian Said:
is it worth it going into a technical high school? We Answered:
If you wish to be an engineer, definitely take High School. Trade schools are for people who desire to learn a trade such as electrician or carpentry. Those are great skills to learn. The problem lies in that if you go to technical school, you will be spending less time with academic subjects. You won't be able to be in a class every day studying say Pre-Calc class. Instead, you will say build houses for a few weeks, then shift gears and study Math. You need to take as much Math as you can and Pre-Engineering classes if you have them.Jay Said:

Can i still be a teacher having a technical high school diploma? We Answered:
Theres nothing that says you cant teach with that diploma, they dont care about high school stuff. You simply need to enroll at a community college or the likes for a couple years- then you can transfer into a teacher education program at a 4 year school.Kathy Said:

Why don't we eliminate public high schools and instead give kids "tickets" to technical schools? We Answered:
Liberals want the four extra years to brainwash kids. There was a time not too long ago when you could learn a trade in high school. Not so much anymore.Javier Said:
New York City High Schools: Bronx HS of Science vs. Aviation Technical HS?We Answered:
We are having a similar conversation here in our house! My daughter also got into a specialized school (the one she wanted) as well as the school she ranked first on her "list of 12".
My best advice is to go to the open house that Bronx Science will give this week (that's not the one my daughter got into, but all of the specialized schools are having open houses this week.) At the open house, you will get a better idea of what Bronx Science is like.
You might also call the parent coordinator of Aviation Tech and ask if you could come and visit this week. Tell them that you are trying to decide between their school and Bronx Science. They will probably be more than glad to let you visit!
Once you have visited both schools, you'll have a much better idea of which one to choose.
Anyway, that's what we are doing this week - attending the open house for the specialized school my daughter got into and trying to get in to visit the other school she go into.
Good luck! It sounds like you have two good schools to choose from. That's great!
