What specialized training programs are there for educators/teachers teaching kids in the autistic spectrum?

We Answered:

I teach special education students, including quite a few with autism. My county also has several classes which are specifically designed for students with autism. All of us get specialized training. Two of the agencies/ programs which our county uses are TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication handicapped CHildren), which was developed by the University of North Carolina and (specifically for communication skills) PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) which is taught by Pyramid Educational Systems. You can find more info on both of these programs by typing them into any search engine.

How difficult is the training and education to become a MRI Tech?

We Answered:

I can't quite rate the difficulty of the training to become an MRI Tech because each person is different so what to you may be easy, may be hard for me. However, the coursework involves as lot of science (particularly biology) so if that's not your thing, then the degree might be harder than usual for you. Formal training programs in range in length from 1 to 4 years and lead to a certificate, an associate degree, or a bachelor’s degree. Visit the website for the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology to find programs that are suitable for you. I've listed the link below. The average starting salary is $57K. It shouldn't be too hard to find a job once you're done with school since the demand is still there. Good luck.

What type of training/education do you need to become an ER nurse?

We Answered:

The previous poster left out one important step. You cannot be a nurse without going to nursing school first. You will need to get your RN degree, which is 4 years. Then apply for a job in the ER. They will guide you as to any extra certifications you will need for working in the ER.

Ben Said:

What do you think of Education programs for training teachers?

We Answered:

All the EDUC classes in the world can not adequately prepare someone to take on actually teaching a class in anything.

The closest comparison of that first year in front of a classroom I can give to a non-teacher is to imagine working a three full-time jobs and taking a full load of college classes.

Even now, 7 years in, it is not unusual for me to spend 40 hours a week outside of my actual work day grading, preparing, planning and researching. That doesn't even cover the joys of classroom management, talking with parents, facing state- and federally-mandated tests and dealing with administration, campus and district politics.
