Pre Vocational Training

Alberto Said:

What is a Good PRE-MED JOB/CAREER??

We Answered:

So are you doing pre-med or nursing? I'm confused. Be an EMT or CNA. An EMT requires one semester training, though some places that hire EMT's require a physical agility test because you have to be able to lift people with help. Some girls have trouble passing the test, especially if they are not that muscular. CNA is about a 6 week certification, but you will get a good idea of what a nurse does. You have to have a strong stomach, b/c you will see lots of poop while working. I'm a CNA though and I enjoy working with the patients enough to put up with the poop.

Yup - agreeing with "ztim" about getting a lab job etc. However, your best bet while you're in undergrad is to study and really ace your pre-med courses since a low GPA will always come back to haunt you no matter how stellar the rest of your application. Putting med-related work on your resume helps too as well as for the letters of reference you'll need!! Look for jobs at the hospital or university labs.

If you are serious about medicine it is at least 8 years of school. It really requires a sizable commitment - both time and money.
