are you serious? graduating gives you a sense of accomplishment, its a day where you feel good about yourself.. you may not go if you do not wish to, but u will probably regret it. do you even know why people cry at graduations? just go to it, its all worth it..

VoTec is a good place to start, sometimes they will tear apart a junker, and the teachers are good mentors. Yes, you will need to learn to weld. You will not need to know how to integrate computers, unless you want your car to have a computer. (Not necessary). You will need to spend quite a bit on tools. Consider $1/piece a good starting point estimate.

Check the Electric Vehicle forums and mailing lists. You can take a rolling car with blown engine cheap and with just a little welding and lots of patience and hard work you can have that electric car.
