Vocational School Training

Russell Said:

Does it matter what kind of school you go to?

We Answered:

It's actually called a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer. Most programs are offered at technical colleges and are 2 year Associate's degrees after you've completed the necessary requirements. The type of degree doesn't matter as much as whether or not the program is accredited. By attending an accredited program, you are automatically eligible to take your boards right after you graduate, so you can become a Registered Sonographer. That is what employers look for.

And by the way, Sonography programs are rigorous and involve much more than most people realize. Make sure you do some research so you know what to be prepared for. Everyone in my program was a 4.0 student and we all struggle to keep up with the coursework.

Good luck :)
