Vocational Training For Women

Nina Said:

what should a 50 yr old woman, who has been a sahm /housewife her entire life, do after a divorce?

We Answered:

Oooo Ooooo there's LOTS of programs for people like her at various colleges, they even give you counseling to pick a career and then stay with you the whole way to get trained and then employed. It depends upon where you live though. Look up "Displaced Homemaker Programs" and "Adult Re-entry programs" in your state and contact your local colleges and universities.

Speaking of education, the field of Education is very welcoming to older persons, most of the workforce at many colleges and universities are 40 plus. Not just teachers, but administrative positions as well. 50 is YOUNG in this field!

We Answered:

I'm 49, and I'm getting my Master's degree. It's never too late.

Basics: Take her out to eat, walk with her, so she gets some decent food and exercise

Friends: Talk to HER friends and involve them in supporting your mother emotionally and socially, for dinner, walks, etc

Social Services: If she won't contact social services, contact them yourself, and see what she could do, to get food, meds. and counseling. Offer to drive her to get her started, and ask her friends to go with her as well.

Senior Services: Locally, we have senior centers, go with her there and take a tour. Some offer free classes in computers, support groups, craft classes, etc

Church: If she belongs to a church, contact the pastor and ask them to visit with her. My dad was a minister and was only to happy to visit with church parishioners.

Check out AARP, they have lots of ideas and resources (second link is to a map of the US, click on your state for local services): http://www.aarp.org/

Good luck!

A Shot At Being A SEAL, Or A Family That Cares?

We Answered:

Dude. You are miles away from being a SEAL. It sounds like you aren't even in the navy yet. You have to go through all of the regular navy training first and then pass selection. Remember that a lot of people fail SEAL training.

But once you sign up for the navy that is a massive commitment. You should decide what your dream really is. If you stay with your girl, you will probably end up resenting your girl for costing you your dream. You are 17 so my advice is to go for being a SEAL. Things with this girl will probably not last.

Most relationships fail. I am sure that you think yours is different, but statistics are statistics.

Good luck bro.

Photographer's opinion needed on this program?

We Answered:

Yes, I think this course will do you some good :) Remember that school will only provide you with the basics. What will make you a successful photographer is how much you put in. Don't just do assignments for the sake of completing them and passing the class... really do your best and act as if the assignment were part of a job... you want these pieces of work to be something that you can stick in your portfolio! Best of luck to you.

Photography Program Opinion?

We Answered:

Looks good, do it.
I have found you usually have a better student to instructor ratio in tech schools. And, often the classes are taught by working pros. The quality of education you receive is going to depend on the instructors, there are good and bad in Universities and Tech schools so it doesn't matter.
