WORKFORCE INVESTMENT ACT (WIA) Program at LADSE
The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) program adds a critical component to the Vocational Alliance Services. Funding from the WIA allows youth who attend school full-time, and have limited work experience, to work during the summer. During the school year, students are able to learn and practice job related interpersonal skills, job seeking skills, and job maintenance skills. Summer job experiences, that are made possible through WIA funding, give students a chance to apply these skills, build work stamina, and demonstrate independence. Student progress is measured, in part, through competency evaluations, which are completed by work-site supervisors.
